the alphabet district PDX

Had a great day with malia soaking up what was left of the afternoon sun in the alphabet district. upscale area, lots of expensive shops, lots of great not so expensive diamonds in the rough. finds of the day…

-Gilt jewelry, so many different styles of jewelry, from vintage, antique, costume, ethnic and artisan.

-Funkytown Vintage, everything in this store is either amazing or just strange. i want it all.

-Fat Straw, cheapest banh mi sandwiches in portland i bet. at 3.50 each with about ten different varieties, bbq pork, tuna, vietnamese style ham, duck liver served on fresh french baguettes, such a deal. did i mention their boba drinks are delicious ?! (i got their weekly special, 4 berry jasmine green tea with rainbow jellies and boba, satisfying !)

-3 monkeys, asian imports, accessories, gifts, mishmash of kind of tacky stuff, but there are some really great finds, chiffon dresses that are just as cute as free people a few shops down, but at half the price.

-Dorio cafe’, great lunch specials. tasty happy hour food greek style. family owned restaurant, the matriarch of the family makes some great baklava.

-Paper source, has basically any shade of card stock you could imagine, need some invitations, theyll hook you up

-Let it bead, great selection of beads, lots of unique pieces, and very reasonable. unfortunately its moving to downtown portland in two days.

-PBJ’s, didnt stop to get one, but this food cart sells nothing but PBJs with just about any extra fixins you could imagine.

-escape from new york pizza, also right next store, awesome new york style deli kornblatts, im told its the best jewish deli in portland.

-nice pastaworks deli in the area

-if you shop at urban outfitters, go to the one in the alphabet district, its less crowded than the downtown stores, and their sale racks are ripe for picking

all in all, great end to my thursday.

  1. Snappy, colourful & well paced post. Nice. Feel like I’ve had a mini-visit.

  2. Awesome! I will definitely have to check out this area for the shops and deluxe PB&J (my meal staple FOR LIFE).
